EARLY dinner

one friday afternoon, we were dismissed early and had an early dinner at this fancy restaurant/bar called Houston.

Grilled Trout

Shake Shack

Great burger. the Burger Bun, aside from the flavorful patty, is the secret. it was soft. http://www.shakeshack.com/

this is one cool thing in that resto... after ordering, they give you this. then it vibrates, that's the cue that your order is ready. sleek.

Flautas and Quesadillas

we just love this Mexican resto here. close to authentic, great value for money.

Papa John's at the office

Cheap STEAK

this steak house is cheap and the food is good. the one that stood out though is the Chimichurri. I fell in love with this south american sauce. be it on bread, on the meat, it's a knock-out.

one of those OT meals

Gelato after a swim

Pistachio-Chocolate combo.

THAI

or at least they call it here Thai food, not really.

ALFAJORES

this delicacy originated from Spain then made its way to South America. Basically Alfajor means gingerbread. Its main ingedients are flour, honey, almonds and hazelnut but Agrentina and Uruguay have different versions of it. This post features the Argentinian version. the box contains 2 varieties: caramel filling with chocolate and one topped with meringue. i don't care what the label says but they are, as they say here, ricoooo!!!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfajor

A Guatemalan Feast

I was invited for dinner by the boss at his place. his mother cooked an authentic Guatemalan dish, dessert and a signature Guacamole. It was a night of great conversation among different nationalities - a Filipino, Guatemalan, Brazilian, Mexican, German-French, Venezuelan and, I have to include, 2 French dogs.
i hope i could replicate this --- the best Guacamole out there, hands down!

it's a chicken - pork dish. even the corn was cooked well. this needed 2 days to prep.
the dried rep pepper gave it a kick
sweet potatoes in sugar cane syrup
