BALUUUUUT... (warning: gross)

if you're a tourist in the Philippines, your trip is nothing 'til you've tasted this delicacy. Balut is basically a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled and eaten in the shell. Like Forrest Gump said, and I modify it, "...box of balut... you'll never know what you gonna get... 5-day old chick or older".

you select and hope the one that you get is a younger chick.. i mean the balut

then you make a little crack on the top and sip that balut juice.

this is a younger one. i could eat this.

but this! good god! i can never eat this.
